Rich Albonizio: His Own Words

Meanwhile, want to know what Greenwich head coach Rich Albonizio had to tell the press corps after Greenwich's 28-0 win Friday about getting his 200th win (besides," It means I'm getting old."), about the FCIAC Championship, getting back-ups ready to shine, about his next opponent, Staples:

On getting win number 200 in the FCIAC championship game:

"It's not the 200. We're down to no backs, and they all step up, they all play hard."

On having to beat New Canaan for the title:

"New Canaan is so well coached. They came out, we did sore that second touchdown, and that sparked them. When they went in 7-0, they thought they were winning it.
"That offense is tough to defend. Let me tell you, we were putting pressure on (Curt Casali) and he got out of it. He made some great plays, they had some drops that hurt them. We got a shut out against a pretty good football team."

On getting his reserve players ready for action:

"They do get a lot of reps, especially with all these guys getting hurt. I don't know what we're going to do if anyone else gets hurt. We're down to nothing. But we also have a guy named Meyers, who is not too bad either."

On his 2006 FCIAC Champions:

"They're special. They're not too big, but they have talent, they have speed, and they have a lot of heart."

On having a short week to prepare for its Thanksgiving game against Staples:

"It's probably better, we won't over-prepare and screw everything up. The more time you give us, the more we can screw up."
